August 18th: "System of Care"

Bev Mentzer, Tami Ambroson, Lori Brunick

Systems of Care (SOC) has 44 coordinators working within South Dakota to include four Project Aware sites operating within identified school systems. Systems of Care coordinators work with children from 0 to 21 with referrals coming from the community, schools, CPS, etc. Systems of Care coordinators assess family needs in 8 life domains to include: health, safety, education, emotional, community supports, social supports, housing supports, and basic needs. Systems of Care coordinators connect families to community resources to meet identified needs. The presentation will include basic information of SOC sites, referral process, explanation of life domains, and examples of how SOC services have impacted families served.

Tami Ambroson has served as the Youth and Family Services Director for Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health Services since 2006. Tami provides clinical supervision for the Systems of Care program at Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health. 

Lori Brunick is the Systems of Care Coordinator for the Project Aware team at the Wagner School District. Lori has provided Systems of Care through Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health for the past 12 years. 

Bev Mentzer serves as the program manager for the Systems of Care program for the Division of Behavioral Health. Bev has been employed with the Department of Social Services for over 17 years at Child Protection Services for 15 years and the past 2 years at the Division of Behavioral Health.
